Recently, OHIS Industrie successfully replaced an old and unsafe overhead crane at SCT in Gaurain Ramecroix. The new overhead crane, a double girder with a lifting capacity of 32 tons, a span of 20 meters, and a hook path of 11 meters, offers significant improvements in safety and efficiency.
All movements of the new overhead crane are controlled by frequency converters, allowing for particularly precise operation without sacrificing top speed. Additionally, the crane is equipped with an LCD screen for displaying the weight on the hook and a maintenance walkway along one of the girders, further enhancing ease of use and safety.
The dismantling of the existing, old overhead crane was quite a challenge. The weight of the old crane was difficult to estimate but turned out to be significantly heavier than expected. The trolley alone weighed 17 tons, and each girder separately weighed another 12 tons. Thanks to the efforts of a strong team and the right tools, the work was carried out smoothly and safely.
